"Why Am I Losing so Much Hair?"
This is one of the most frequent questions asked behind the chair.
Your hair goes through three cycles of growth. During the last stage it is completely normal to loose hair. With spring around the corner most of us will switch into the Telogen phase of the hair cycle. During this part of the hair cycle you will notice the most hair shed.
To determine how much is normal you should look to your hair thickness.
It is always advised that you do not compare your hair loss to your friends, sisters or cousins. Everyone has different hair thickness, if your hair is thicker than your friend Sallys, you're going to naturally shed more hair. This is completely normal and no reason for concern.
Three Cycles of Hair Growth
1. Anagen "The Growth Phase"
2. Catagen "The Transition Phase"
3. Telogen Phase "The Resting Phase"

Remember that hair breakage is different than hair shedding. Hair shedding is a natural process where the hair falls from the root. Hair breakage occurs when chemical or environmental stressors cause the hair to break and fall off. Hair breakage does not always happen from the root, but over time can contribute to volume loss.
Clients that lighten their hair with blonde or balayage services are more prone to breakage. If you have questions about restoring volume to your lightened hair, send an email to info@kobobeauty.com.
