Hair Extensions are often the most expensive service on a salons menu. With so many methods of application it can be hard to decipher which method is worth the investment. The truth is that the best hair extension method is unique to each individual. The best hair extension method for you will depend on your hair length, hair type, hair goal, lifestyle & budget.
To help you decide which method is best for you we will describe the most popular methods of both permanent and non-permanent hair extensions. Within each category there are many application methods, below is the low down on the most popular hair extension methods on the market.
Non-Permanent Hair Extension Methods
-Clip-In Hair Extensions
-Halo Hair Extensions
-Pony-Tail Extensions
With so many options for permanent hair extension application it is easy to become overwhelmed. To make it simple we will break permanent hair extensions into two groups, single strand application vs. weft application.

Permanent Hair Extension Methods
Single Strand Application
- Fusion: This method is the OG of hair extensions.
-Microbead or i-tip
Weft Application
- Sew-In Weft: Depending on your hair texture wefts can be applied in a variety of methods. Curly, coarse hair can be applied by braiding the hair and then sewing the weft into those braids.
- Beaded Weft: Fine, straight hair is attached by creating a base using beads, and the weft is then sewn into this beaded base.

Hybrid Application
-Tape-In Extensions : While not fully a weft, it also can not be classified as a single strand method. Tape-In Extensions use the same glue as keratin bonds, however this method conceals the glue in a flat small weft.
